Business Analyst

Cognizant is seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our healthcare team in a hybrid capacity, operating during night shifts. In this role, you will contribute to the healthcare payer and provider space, focusing on benefits open enrollment and ensuring processes remain strictly HIPAA compliant. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution to ensure accurate enrollment and compliant data handling for our global clients and their members.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
• 4-5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst specifically within the healthcare payer and provider domain.
• Deep understanding of the benefits open enrollment lifecycle, including life event processing and eligibility reconciliation.
• Demonstrated expertise in HIPAA compliance and the secure handling of sensitive healthcare data.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in process mapping tools and data validation using spreadsheets or reporting software.

• Gather and document business requirements for benefits open enrollment, converting them into actionable functional specifications.
• Analyze payer and provider workflows related to enrollment, eligibility, billing, and claims to identify and mitigate process inefficiencies.
• Develop comprehensive user stories and acceptance criteria that strictly adhere to HIPAA data security standards.
• Perform data deep dives to resolve enrollment discrepancies, including coverage mapping errors and eligibility data mismatches.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams during night shift rotations to align project scope and ensure timely delivery of configuration requirements.
